Wired has just launched their new How-To site, chock-full of instructions and tips to do any number of things, some more useful than others (how to stalk people on Flickr? Awesome). One that caught our eye was the Martha-Stewart-inspired Wii Cake. The problem? The cake is goddamned inedible.
Call me crazy, but a cake you can't eat is a poor excuse for a cake. You can't eat it for a couple of reasons, the first being that it's full of sticks for structural support, the second being that it's made without baking soda so it'll taste like a big pile of ass. So basically, Wired has created instructions for making the biggest cocktease ever for overweight video-game nerds: a cake they can't eat shaped like a video-game console they can't play. Gee, thanks a lot, Wired. [Wired]

Unsubstantiated rumors are fun, but unspecific, unsubstantiated rumors - now that’s good stuff! All right, I admit to being a bit sarcastic, but this still seemed worth reporting: Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s president, “has hinted that big surprises are in store for Wii owners this September,” according to Maxconsole’s “malloc.”
“He boasts the surprise [...]

Video games Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Godzilla: Unleashed are probably two of the more anticipated titles for the Nintendo Wii. Both will be published by Atari and both will be available this coming Christmas season.
Here's a heads up for those who have been religiously following the development of these two titles: Atari announced today that playable demos of DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Godzilla: Unleashed will be available during the San Diego Comic Con.
The said event will take place from July 26 to 29 at the Convention Center on Harbor Drive. Anyway, the brand new playable demo of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 can be found at the FUNimation Entertainment booth, #4129. On the other hand, the hands-on demo of Godzilla: Unleashed will be available at the Foundation 9 booth, # 4630.
We're really excited to get our hands on these especially with the innovations mentioned so far by the developers. It was earlier revealed that DBZ: Budokai T...

Nintendo's SVP of Marketing and Corporate Communications, George Harrison, conducted an interview with GameDaily during E3 where he spoke on a number of subjects (seriously, this interview is long). What we were interested in hearing from the interview, however, was talk of a Wii revision to the hardware in the works. George, in expert fashion, manages to provide an "answer" to the question without really answering it.
George doesn't completely dash our hopes of a bigger, badder Wii, though (we'd like more space to save our VC games, please!), stating "whenever we feel like it's time or have an upgrade, we'll do it, whether it's an improved screen for the handheld or slimmed down like the DS Lite - those types of things. So it's not out of the question on Wii, but we're not even to our second holiday yet, so it's kind of premature to talk about any revisions to the hardware itself." ...

If there was ever a game franchise that took Soccer into a full-on contact sport, Mario Strikers Charged definitely takes the cake. Not only are you encouraged to use items to knock ball-dribbling players off their feet, you're pretty much given leeway to steal the ball by any means possible - even if it's body-checking players into the stadium walls, or kicking the ball into them so hard they're stunned. We see more of that and then some in this video update of Mario Strikers Charged for the Nintendo Wii.
The first video, Goal Scoring Gameplay, gives us a peek at the many ways one can score a goal in Mario Strikers Charged, and we see none other than Mario himself taking it to the goalkeeper with a MegaStrike Goal attack. On the other end of the spectrum, the second video, Koopa Kicking Gameplay, shows Mario's arch nemesis Bowser and his minions working like a well-oiled machine to get the goals.
Mario Strikers Charged hits first, hits fast and hits HARD. Updates as...

Brawl fans rejoice, for yet another one of the greats has made a return to the ranks of the Smashers and Brawlers of this year's most anticipated beat-em-up for the Wii. Courtesy of the Smash Brothers Dojo website updates, it's the lean mean egg-throwing machine Yoshi in Super Smash Brothers Brawl!
Fans of the GameCube iteration of Super Smash Brothers will remember Yoshi as the character known for his massive second jump, as well as having smash attacks powerful enough to send characters clear across the ring. While the update doesn't confirm if he still is the the egg-lobbing lizard menace he was in Melee, he does have a few new abilities, such as being able to use his Up Special move, the Egg Toss, to increase the distance of his jump.
It's always good to know that one of the Super Mario Universe's most beloved characters have made the cut. Updates as they happen, so keep it locked right here for more info on Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Boy, here's something you don't want to see while driving to grandma's house. It's a WWII-era airplane making an emergency landing on a busy Wisconsin highway, and the entire thing was caught on police video. The 1943 plane was on its way to an air show when it got engine trouble. The pilot, who has huge, huge balls, decided he would make an emergency landing on a highway full of cars. No one was injured, and the only damage to the plane was to the wings, as the plane clipped some signs during the landing. Sweet merciful crap, that is crazy. [NBC10 via Spulch]

Every Tuesday, Mike Sylvester brings you REVOLUTIONARY, a look at the wide world of Wii possibilities.
Nintendo still hasn't confirmed any of the technical specs of the Wii hardware in detail, and we wouldn't recommend you hold your breath until they do. They don't want people making assumptions of what the system can or can't do based on arbitrary numbers and jargon. We do know that the Wii is much more than "2 Gamecube's taped together." In addition to the revolutionary controllers, we get integrated Wi-fi, 2 USB2.0 ports, 48MB more RAM, internal flash storage, an SD card slot, full-sized DVD disc capacity, and a new operating system and GUI that brings us software like Mii Channel, Photo Channel, Forecast Channel, and Internet Channel. Wii Shop and Virtual Console could not have been done on Gamecube, and with support for component output re-integrated, we can enjoy our old and new games in glorious 480p. That's a pretty long li...
