Flying enthusiasts with $263,000 to spare can now build their own Spitfire aircraft from a pack. The Supermarine Aircraft Mark 26 kit, a 90 per cent scale model of the iconic WWII fighter plane, costs £100,000 ($203,000), but you will need an additional £30,000 ($60,000) to finish it off - not to mention 1,200 hours of construction time.
The flatpack fighter is shipped to you from Australia with 700 hours' worth of construction already on the clock, but the rest is up to you.
The importer of the packs, Kieran Padden, says that business is booming - and for many reasons. "It is so easy to fly," he claims of the plane that costs a tenth of the original to buy. "Even old Spitfire pilots I have spoken to say it flies just like the original. It's lighter but has the same performance, so it's much more agile."
The V6 engine means that the completed plane will travel at 222 mph and can fly up to 18,000 feet. "The manufacturers have even recreated the sound," says Mr Pa...

At the E3 Media and Business Summit 2007, Disney Interactive Studios announced their list of upcoming video games and discussed a number of its plans for the future.

Disney's investments naturally include product development and talent. The studio has grown to staff 700 people in 11 countries and it has plans to put in US 130 million in product development for this year. Since gamers won't really be interested in the numbers, we'll go ahead and give you the list of upcoming games discussed during E3, including the announcement of a couple of sequels, a new online community, and Turok's release date.

First off, Disney Interactive Studios announced an online community for the DS called DGamer. DGamer will enable gamers to chat with other gamers, create their own avatars, and trade in-game items. Gamers will be able to connect to DGamer via the DS' Wi-Fi connection, so basically players can connect to the community anywhere. Players can also connect to the community vi...

Bust out your dancing shoes and get on the groove, Konami has released a groovy video for Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party during the E3 Media and Business Summit.

The video is short and sweet, featuring single player and multiplayer gameplay. The icons for the steps and the Wiimote and Nunchuk gestures look simple enough when it's just you and the screen, but add a couple more players and you've got a dizzying riot on the screen. The Wii's Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party seems merciful enough for the beginners though, as you can see in the trailer below.

Go ahead and check out the video. This busting and grooving video game will be waltzing to the shelves in October. Stay tuned for more DDR: Hottest Party news and info.

It's an ominous question, but it's bound to be asked. When does Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto plan to retire? Only he would know, so the game producer was asked this during a recent interview.

He replied, "Don't movie directors usually make films until they die? Annually, I don't make that much money. So I don't think I can retire."

And while we won't ask anything about his paycheck, we have to agree with Miyamoto's first point. There's much to be done in the upcoming days, with Miyamoto hinting at another possible Zelda game for the Wii.

There's also the matter of the new Wii Fit game, which is expected to keep otherwise couch-bound players trim and fit. Mr. Miyamoto's probably got plenty more to work on in the near future (especially post-E3). There's the projects we've just mentioned, and the possibility that he'll be working on something bigger that might leave its mark on society in the days/month/years to come. We'd like to ask the readers regarding th...

From the creators of the fan favorite Elebits comes a brand new Wii game, Dewy's Adventure. Much like Konami's previous effort, this Wii-exclusive title attempts to fully utilize the Wii Remote in a much-too-cute universe. Like many other Wii titles, the game focuses on tilt controls: when tilting the Remote, the world will move, causing the titular character to slip and slide. Although the controls are familiar, Dewy's Adventure offers many unique aspects to make it an enjoyable experience.

Dewy's repertoire is far more advanced than other tilting games. Dewy is primarily a platforming game, and the hero must not only slide, but also jump through the levels, navigating through layered worlds. In the level that we played, Dewy had to get a key to open a secret passage. Of course, things weren't going to be too easy. Enemies were varied, and fun to defeat.

There was just a couple of updates since Electronic Arts revealed the new Simpsons game in their two-nighter event, so it probably was a blessing that Homer bowled his way in through the ruckus at the E3 Media & Business Summit and dropped two more trailers in his wake.

While the movie trailer has been milling around for weeks in cinemas, The Simpsons Game is also rearing itself for adoption by fans around the world on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, PSP, and the PS2. The two trailers provided give you a sneak peek at the graphical quality of the game, including a few cues for camera angles, gameplay concepts, and a little humor with hatches.

In addition to having the fantastic Wii Party Station, Nyko also had a bunch of other accessories for all three consoles. First, a wireless Xbox 360 Guitar Hero guitar, which is still in the prototype stage and may not even make it to market. Their guitar may hit a whole three months sooner than the official Guitar Hero III wireless guitar, but there are a couple caveats. One, you need a wired controller to hook the whole thing up.

Instead of using the default Microsoft wireless controller scheme, which Microsoft's still being stingy about, Nyko's gone and made their own. It requires an adapter box (included), and a wired controller (it can be a regular controller or even a wired Guitar Hero guitar) to be plugged in while in use. The good news is that all the functions, including whammy and tilt star power actually works.
Nyko's still not sure on the price or whether they want to bring it to market at all, since th...

We just got a hands on with Nyko's Wii Party Station and we can safely say that it's crazy. Crazy awesome. It's got pretty much everything you want to have when you're having a Wii house party, and it's designed cheaply enough ($24.99) for every Wii-owning family to use as an accessory to enhance their gaming.
But the best part is, of course, the chip holder. Nyko told us that they were going to re-evaluate the design and increase the size (making it deeper and wider) to accommodate more chips. The amount in there is enough for one person, but as a party tray it's fairly under-stocked. But the idea is great.

There are LCD scoreboards (so you can keep track of which one of the four of you is winning), Wiimote holders, a drawer for Nunchucks, a fan (like the bowling alley) for sweaty gamers, four freezable soda cup holders (with built-in gels to maintain coldness), and a chip and dip holder for, obviously, c...

Gaming site IGN caught up with Twilight Princess Director Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo Producer Shigeru Miyamoto a while ago at E3 and when you have the two at hand, you shouldn't let anyone go without asking a Zelda-related question - be it related to the current video game title on Wii or even about future iterations.

IGN went for the second question and received quite a few interesting answers from the two. According to Miyamoto, there is a high possibility that a new Zelda game will be released on the Wii because the console has a lot of potential and there are many areas that they haven't fully explored yet. The producer added,
It's really hard to say because we've never had a Zelda that's appeared so early in the life cycle of the system, so it's definitely possible that there would be another Zelda on Wii. Of course, the challenge is that typically a Zelda game is something that takes three years to develop, so we'll just have to wait and see.
While Director Ao...

If you thought the plastic-looking Nintendo Wii Mario Kart wheel was a little too classy, Billet Mechanical has the wheel for you. First, it's not even a wheel. It's a Knight Rider-like half steering wheel that has grips on the two ends for gripping. It's not like you're doing hand over hand on regular wheels anyway, but shaping it like a wheel is probably the least you can do for the authentic wheel experience.
Also, this thing is $44.95. We're guessing that some of your money goes into the aluminum and velcro build, which probably feels quite a bit nicer than plastic. The rest? Into the fantastic product design. But hey, if you're ever pretending you're Michael Knight, this and a talking watch with the voice of William Daniels will get you all the way home.
