Bad news for Wii owners in the UK looking to grab a copy of the beloved party game featuring all of Mario's buddies and enemies, Mario Party 8.
Despite the game's release date being pushed back for quite a while to fix a bug found on the English version, a small amount of discs with the unfixed version of the game had somehow found their way into the shipment.
Thus, Nintendo's issuing a recall on Mario Party 8 in UK, with a re-release date still pending. Nintendo's statement on their official site, verbatim:
Unfortunately we have discovered that a small number of games contain the wrong version of the disk due to an assembly error. We have therefore decided to recall all copies of the game from UK retailers so that this mistake can be corrected.
We will re-launch Mario Party 8 in the UK as soon as possible and will announce a new launch date shortly. We very much regret any inconvenience caused.
Very bad news indeed - it...

If you like to fish, but hate having to get up early in the morning to drive out to the lake, Fishing Master (released as Tsuri Master in Japan) is just up your alley. Konami and Hudson Entertainment may have a real winner here considering that the Wiimote is just perfect for a game like this.
You really won't be missing much if you invite your friends over for some beer, chips, and barbecued fish (from the local grocery), whip out four Wiimotes to play Fishing Master and it's like you went on your monthly fishing trip already.
Of course, you'll be missing out on some of the good things that the game can't replicate like the smell of cold morning air and the sheer thrill of catching "the big one" but you'll also be skipping the giant mosquitoes and the hassle of having to pack all your stuff when going back home.
So is this game for you? Well, you'll really have to wait for it to come out before you can decide. Till then, here are four pieces of artwork from...

So, any new tattoos this year?
None. Out of limbs. You were there the other night...
What, no chest piece? You've got legs, too.
No, my PR handlers would -- well, I'm game for a lot of stuff, and then they go, "No, I don't think so."
You could do full sleeves, the back...
I think the next thing would be what's (horribly) called a tramp stamp... [laughter]
So no tramp stamp for Peter Moore, unfortunately. So last time when we spoke with you last year, your competition hadn't launched yet. So you guys were kind of in a unique position to be the first next gen company out of the gate. Your system, you know you have a lot of second wave titles showing up. Even though the Wii was certainly a phenomenon at last year's E3, there was a lot of excitement about the Xbox. So now here we are, a little over a year later obviously and your competition has launched, in your own press conferen...

Sure, we could have shown some other E3-centric videos here in our weekly spotlight, but we really wanted an excuse to talk a little more about the fun potential of MySims, which continues to bear a strong (though less anthropomorphic) resemblance to Animal Crossing. We even saw a little guy with a shovel in this trailer. Since there has been no real sign of Animal Crossing for the Wii, this looks ripe to tide us over while we wait. Who knows, we may even (gasp!) like it better.
Also, splashing in a fountain sounds pretty good right about now. Oh, July, July ... how you make us long for December.

CONFIRMED: Namco Museum Remix continues to be insane. Not that we expected them to, but Namco did not go back and change Galaga back to regular Galaga. We are still living in a world where a description of Galaga can include the phrase "Pac-Man rolls on a tube in outer space."
This is the "new" Galaga in which, instead of shooting from a ship at the bottom of the screen, you shoot the alien ships by pointing and shooting at them with the Wiimote, shooting-gallery style, and you can also use the analog stick to make Pac-Man jump.
Rally-X was still Rally-X, but with speed boosting, which seems like an okay addition. These were still the only two playable games, so we'll have to wait to see how Namco is ruining updating the rest of their classics.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

With E3 arriving on the scene and mugging us for both our time and energy, we're sure most of you are as tired as we are, having seen amazing game trailers and screens. It's been a great week to be a Nintendo fanboy (or fangirl), that's for sure.
The question still needs to be asked, though. What are you playing? Will you be going through older Metroid Prime titles in anticipation of Metroid Prime 3? Will you break out your copy of Mario Kart Double Dash and imagine it's actually Mario Kart Wii?Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

That's what Majesco and Budcat thought, anyway. They were already making a game based on a Kenta Cho freeware shooter, with no legal hoops to jump through. There's basically no reason for them not to throw a bunch more Cho games on there! It works out well for them, because it's bonus content, and it works out nicely for us, because we'll be able to play more great abstract shooters on our television, using our Wiimote!
Siliconera played Blast Works at E3, and realized very quickly that they were just playing the original TUMIKI Fighters. The Budcat rep explained that it was an early build and that Blast Works would indeed be a new game. He also revealed that not only will TUMIKI Fighters be on the disc in its original form, but rRootage and possibly Gunroar and Torus Trooper will be bonus content as well.
This means that you can go preview some Blast Works...

It's an odd pairing for the weekend for European gamers -- the punk-influenced Air Zonk and the classically adorable Paper Mario! What do they both have in common? A light-hearted approach to gaming and solid offerings for their respective genres. That's something we can get behind.
Air Zonk -- Turbografx -- 600 Wii points
Paper Mario -- Nintendo 64 -- 1000 Wii points

Mario got his game on during E3 this year with Super Mario Galaxy, his title for the Wii coming this November 12. Labeled as an action platformer, players get to control Mario as he defies gravity, explores new planets, and uses new power-ups in his quest to save Princess Peach from her kidnapper.
Using the Wiimote and the Nunchuk, players get to run, jump, and battle enemies in the traditional Mario style, or use the stars he collects to blast them from afar. The game also offers a new two-player co-op system where the second player just has to pick up another Wiimote to jump in and either help or hinder Mario. Also, brand new mushrooms, suits, and challenges await the eager Mario fan as he/she explores the galaxy.
Watch the video as developers take us through the Honeybee planet of Mario's universe. With beautiful graphics, unique gameplay, and a great Mario chase through space, we'd wager that Super Mario Galaxy would make it to the "I-want" lists of many gam...
