What we have for you below is a trailer video for the upcoming video game Ultimate Duck Hunting. We guess you're all familiar with this title as this very concept probably began with the NES game Duck Hunt.

Some of Ultimate Duck Hunting's more interesting features include various weather conditions and six locations as well as different game modes (Single Hunt, Career Mode, Multiplayer Mode, Training Mode). Needless to say, the Wiimote will be put to good use in all of these.

Detn8 Games Ltd. is delaying the release of the game until August because of unspecified reasons, so check out the trailer below for your Ultimate Duck Hunting fix.

One of our alumni here, blogger Ludwig Kietzmann, got his hands on the upcoming joint venture between Nintendo and Sega in Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. As one might expect, the collection of minigames present in this overall game are some that fail to elicit any kind of enthusiasm or excitement in said blogger, as it is remarked this is the equivalent of "gaming chewing gum," as "beyond the initial burst of flavor upon discovering the Wii motions needed to complete an event, it's likely to degenerate into a bout of repetitive motion" for most gamers.

To call us disappointed is an understatement, however due to the fact that we pretty much knew this would be the case, at least we were prepared for it.

Could the Wii end up outselling the PS2? Satoru Iwata seems to think so -- at least, that's what he told Reuters in a recent interview. He even waved away the impending PS3 price drop and redesigned PSP as likely having little-to-no effect on sales of the Wii and DS.

The PS2, however, is a legendary juggernaut in the world of consoles, with more than 120 million units shipped to date. The Wii is estimated to hit around 20 million by next March, and if Nintendo wants to catch the PS2, they better fix that whole shortage problem. But it's still early in the cycle of the system, and at the current rate, anything is possible.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Establishing themselves as the dominant console just wasn't enough for the Nintendo company, as they declared themselves prepared to enter the NASCAR circuit with the Wii-themed Ford Fusion. Driven by Roush Fenway Racing and NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Greg Biffle, the car will make its debut at Watkins Glen next month, followed by an encore performance Dover's Monster Mile in September. We have to question Nintendo's motives here, but not being NASCAR fans ourselves, we don't really think we're equipped to criticize.

A simple search at the online database of the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) will yield interesting results that should make any Wii owner happy. Accordingly, a lot of classic video games have just been rated, clearly slated for the console's Virtual Console (VC).

You have to take note though that these titles have just been rated and there's no telling when they will go live. Just the same, it's interesting to know what titles we could be having next month, or probably even next week.

After watching this collection of old Japanese Famicom ads from the '80s, we can pretty much say there's not all that much difference between these ads and the Wii ads of today. There's definitely more of a focus on the games and accessories compared to the "what do people look like while playing them" ads of today. But in the end, you're not seeing some crazy console alone in a room with a demonic baby. [PlasticBamboo]

We liked Rygar: The Legendary Adventure enough to want to at least look at the Wii version. We hate to admit it and indirectly support port-dumping, but messing with the yo-yo-like Diskarmor was pretty neat on a regular controller, and we kind of think it mightb be worth trying with the Wiimote. Famitsu uploaded some new screenshots of the game, all of which highlight the bizarre and absolutely non-Rygar-like character design.

Famitsu actually found the new content in the game, outlining the new Wiimote-based "Muscle Mode," a battle arena where you slice tons of monsters with your Diskarmor using motion controls. You can slam the Diskarmor into the ground, generating a quake. You can also swing it around horizontally and create a sonic boom, or perform a sort of Diskarmor stab in which the Diskarmor shoots directly forward at high speed. We can't help but wonder if people aren't getting a little too sensitive. First Ubisoft's Mind Quiz for the DS and PSP was yanked, and now Mario Party 8 suffered the same fate right after its UK release. So what was the offense? An infamous four-letter word? Dirty insults that would make nuns and sailors alike blush down to their toes? Hot coffee level mistakes?

No, in both cases, it was the word "spastic."

Now, there's more at work here below the surface than is obvious at first glance. First, in Mind Quiz, the spastic label was applied to those who couldn't manage much in the game, and so yes, it was a little insulting. Second, while "spastic" is pretty tame as far as slang goes on this side of the proverbial pond, in the UK, it's apparently a little more insulting. It's the equivalent of calling someone a drooling retard, if you will (we use this phrase for the purposes of example here, so please, don't issue a W...

This week's Virtual Console releases sees the inclusion of two high-profile Nintendo titles, along with a TurboGrafx16 game we're not familiar with. But, when looking at the two Nintendo titles mentioned, that couldn't matter any less. We know it'll be hard to pry us away from our Wii today, as we get knee-deep in some most excellent gaming.

Today's VC releases are:
Paper Mario (Nintendo 64, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) Balloon Fight (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) Silent Debuggers (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) Who plans on giving what a download? If you're on the fence, be sure to stop back later for our video wrap-up of today's releases.
