We've heard of the Federales handing out aging Xbox consoles in return for random pieces of weaponry, but a modern day case of Jet Grind Radio has Garner, North Carolina officials miffed. In a peculiar bout with vandals who are littering the town with "Ghost" graffiti tags, the local police are actually offering up some handsome rewards to informants that lead the boys in blue to any rightful arrests. Of course, the $1,000 cash prize looks tempting enough, but if the "miscreant is a juvenile," police are offering $500 or their choice of a Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 (the 20GB flavor, we presume), or Nintendo Wii on top of the cool thousand just for participating. Sheesh, these folks act like gaming is reserved for minors or something.

As we all know, Scarface: The World is Yours is way up there near the top of the violent video games list. We've got a trailer that's going to - well, show you guys just how much violence there is in the movie based game.
Tony Montana is certainly not somebody you mess with. And you certainly don't want to say 'Hello' to his little friend. The Scarface: The World is Yours Violence trailer starts at Tony's mansion where Sosa's men are attempting to kill Tony. In the movie, Tony dies in the hands of Sosa's assassins - though in the game, Tony survives and sets out for revenge.
Scarface: The World is Yours from Radical Entertainment is certainly not kid friendly as Tony wields various weapons from a chainsaw and the rocket launcher, and he knows how to use them. ( insert flying dismembered body parts and swear words here ) The game's Wii version is set to hit the video games' shelves on summer of this year. For the meantime, check out the video. Remember kids, don't try ...

Here's something we came across in Flickr. It's a screenshot for the upcoming Super Paper Mario game by Nintendo. What makes it so intriguing is that it seems to hint that there will be Wii and DS connectivity very soon.
Check out the Nintendo DS Lite on the wall and the text that says "awaiting data upgrade." We're not sure but the Wii may get an update soon to allow connectivity. How this will affect future DS and Wii games is still anyone's guess.
The connectivity between Nintendo's handheld and full-grown console should make for a lot more kid-friendly fun. Here's hoping it happens soon.

Electronic Arts Montreal's Eric Chartrand, lead designer of SSX Blur for the Wii, was interviewed by Gamasutra while taking a breather from game development. SSX Blur, while a great game sporting a unique control interface to adopt to the Wiimote mechanics, wasn't exactly considered as a stellar game for many gamers out there.
The initial feedback from the newly released Wii game had sprouted many praises and about the same number of complaints, which wrought reviews on the game sporting conclusions from "good game!" to "bad controls!"
Chartrand was confident that Electronic Arts did a fine job with the game and that the response from the diverse public, from game reviewers to avid gamers, was to be expected. Directly quoting from Gamasutra's interview, Chartrand said:
The reaction to the game was very... how can I say that... interesting. We got very, very good reviews and very, very bad ones. Some said they thought we provided the best of the control...

Libraries are cool. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a bookworm. Now, there might be even more reason for non-bookworms to ask for a library card and visit the establishment more often. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, that's what they say. Now, aside from the Library of Congress, it seems that other libraries across the country are getting on the same "preserve videogames" bandwagon.
The Campbell County Public Library in Kentucky just added a whole selection of various videogames into their collection of... media. Videogames are, after all, part of our cultural heritage. Anyone beg to differ?
As of now, the library is starting with a collection of over 50 games, and according to Anderson, the titles would be available for checking out within a week or two. Each branch of the library will host a different console: the Cold Spring branch gets PlayStation 2 games; the Fort Thomas Branch, Xbox 360 games; the Newport branch, Nintendo Wii games. (ooh, maybe th...

Though it may have been compared to Sims Earth and god sims like Populous and Black & White, the player doesn't play God in Project O, as Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada pointed out in an interview with CVG. In fact the game being created by an all-star developer team who've worked on titles such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest will be a life simulation with a story.
Banking on his experience with Harvest Moon, the game will pit the player as part of the community of people milling around and actually see the world develop around him. Wada explains, "In Project O the gamer plays among the people and creates the world around them from ground-level, not as god."
The simulation will be open-ended, but not without a deep story for the player to relate to. The player will take on a role of one main character - whose name has yet to be revealed - set in the backdrop of old age Europe and will be quickly drawn into a world where relationships established ...

When it comes to Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, we know you've had about enough screenshot diagrams showing how you can control the characters using the Wiimote. We also shared with you a video interview with Creative Director Ed Boon about the same topic.
But folks, we are talking about Mortal Kombat here, the series which originated back in 1992 and gave Street Fighter II a run for its money. In MK, we take no prisoners. We have to make sure that every fatality is absolutely perfect.
As you know, Armageddon is different from all other titles in the franchise because instead of smashing buttons, you will have to perform the attacks yourselves. With all that said, we reckoned that another tutorial video won't hurt. This particular one was uploaded by gaming site Destructoid over at YouTube.
And we hope that it will prove to be useful when Sub-Zero and the rest of the gang conquer your Wii this April. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is being developed and will be publ...

Ever since I started working for Gizmodo, I've been getting emails asking how to become an intern. Well this is your chance. We're looking for a fresh hire in San Francisco.
This is what you need to know: Basically you will be Brian Lam's bitch. He'll call you all the time, asking you to to come over to pack up his 800th TV he's tested this month, or just to keep him company. The FedEx guy will be your new best friend. But then Lam will let you take breaks to play some Wii and eat (Bread & Water). In addition to helping him out, you'll need to have a car to get around quickly, and be able to write coherently. Here's what he's looking for: A journalism student who's interested specifically in gadget or tech writing, with Photoshop skills, who must be located in San Francisco. All in all you'll be looking at about 20 hours a week, during flexible times.
Think you got what it takes? Email tips@gizmodo.com your resume and a cover letter saying why you should be......

An analyst says that we should expect March video game sales to be "flattish." Yes, we know: March was last month.
Before you consult the "Time Traveller's Handbook of 1001 Tense Formations" as recommended by the late, great Douglas Adams in "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe," you should know that the analyst isn't expecting the past - he's simply expecting the sales results from March, which will presumably be released at some point in the space-time continuum in our future.
According to GameDaily Biz, Colin Sebastian, an analyst from Lazard Capital Markets (a New York investment bank), did a "back of the envelope" analysis about March sales. And here's what he predicted were (will be?) the sales for March...
In general, Sebastian expects that March sales of next-gen products will be balanced by a drop in the sale of older-gen products. He also expects that Nintendo Wii and DS shortages will also contribute to sales figures being "flattish." Seb...

Team Xtender, the group behind the chrome casing and Black Knight Wii mods, plans to diversify its line of I-Case replacement shells with a more colorful look. The mod manufacturer has posted photos of its concept models in their new outfits, dressing the Wii and its stand in red, yellow, green, blue, and pink.
Nothing has been finalized yet, so don't expect to see these vibrant kits on the market for a while. The I-Case's pricing has been a little more competitive than the SHOCKii's ($40 versus $50), so we're glad to see some competition in the replacement shell market. Click past the post break for more glamour shots from the Wii runway.
