Join the contest. The first contest has launched and it's a big one. By becoming a member of Spidey's Web, you'll be entered into a contest to win an all-expense-paid trip to Activision's Santa Monica offices to be one of the first people to play an early version of Spider-Man 3 prior to the game's launch. Sounds good.

Spider-Man 3 is developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. This third-person action adventure game should be out this May (at least in the U.S.; we still have to verify the European and North America dates). Judging by the pretty logos on the b...

For those who miss the skull-crushing and spine-ripping goodness of Midway Games' classic versus game, Mortal Kombat, it looks like you won't have long to wait as the release date has finally been pegged down to April 2007. Poised to make a come-back on the Wii, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon offers several new features for fans of this title.

For starters, this new installment to the MK game series will allow players to choose their fighter from more than 60 characters from the Mortal Kombat Universe. If that's still not good enough, then there will also be the option to create Kreate your own fighter, and even formulate your own fatality to go with your personalized character.

Now, while we overload on K's and wait for the title's release, we've got the official packshot, as well as some new artwork right here.

Enjoy!

Cheap Ass Gamer "hollowfreak," who apparently had quite a bit of time on his hands, but not a moment to spare for reaching around his Wii to get at the GameCube ports, just modded up his Wii to redirect the ports that oh-so-important 5-inches to the front. In the process, hollowfreak doubled his Wii heft, not to mention totally killed the sexy, but in all he really didn't do a bad job for himself, and the extra blue LED lights never hurt. Plus the mod looks to be modular, so hf can always get his Super Smash Bros. Melee game on for a few hours, and then pop off the hefty mod when he's in a mood to impress the ladies. Check out the insides and another angle after the break.Continue reading Wii mod gets those GameCube ports up front where they once belonged

This news bit goes out to the guys who are enjoying their copy of Mario Kart 64 from Nintendo's Virtual Console shop. Some of you may have noticed that aside from other spotted game bugs, there's the matter of the game's refusal to let you save your time trial ghost data.

For those who can recall, the ghost  feature allowed you to save your best game times as a ghost which you could challenge in future races. Unfortunately, it seems that the game has problems in the port's memory pack emulation, which in turn makes this feature unusable.  The Game Pro dudes - the guys who noticed the problem - contacted Nintendo on how it could be resolved, and got this reply:

"Due to unavoidable technical reasons unfortunately it is not possible to save ghost data from Mario Kart 64's Time Trials in the Virtual Console version of the game,"

There you have it - we'll just have to bear with one less game feature for one of the N64's more memorable classics, though Ni...

Contrary to popular opinion sometimes espoused by certain gaming pundits of the comic variety, playing the Wii in a low-impact, controlled manner doesn't mean you're a toolbox, it means you're a totally l33t toolbox. So in celebration of such l33tness, we present you with "Lazy Wii Guy," a quite effective demonstration of lazy Wii usage methods and the toolboxes that subscribe to them.

In a recent interview with IGN, Atari has revealed that they are planning on unleashing Godzilla: Unleashed on the Nintendo Wii. The game developed by Pipeworks Software is actually the third installment in the series which traces its roots on the GameCube title, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters. The interview with the Pipeworks Software folks is quite hefty so we're just gonna serve you the more interesting parts.
Now, we're sure you're wondering about the controls for this Wii game. Apparently, the game will be played with the nunchuk style, with the Wiimote handling the attack and the nunchuck taking care of the movements. The new controller is also the reason why monsters can now do any and every primary actions independently. So what does all these mumbo-jumbo means? Here's what the devs said:

This means that you can charge while jumping in the air - fire your weapon during attacks, and move freely at all times...Godzilla can be walking in one direction, attacking with ...

This upcoming extreme sports title from EA Montreal gives players a chance to do Tony Hawk-ish tricks on a snowboard. Controls are bound to be fun as players use the Wiimote and the Nunchuck to do uber moves. Do 360s, make full use of rails, do aerial twists and turns - the sky's the limit.

Mac, Kaori, Psymon, Allegra, and the other SSX franchise favorites make a comeback and two new faces make a debut in this newest installment. So are you guys itching to hit the slopes in SSX Blur? Well, we'll all have to wait until it hits the shelves in March 15 but we've got some new screenshots to make you long for it more.

Now that's what we call a mod! Lacking satisfaction in his Wii's location of GameCube controller ports, CAG member hollowfreak decided to rearrange them. Not only that, but he made them as snazzy as that disc slot light, with a similar blue glow. Hands down, this is the best mod we've seen for the Wii yet.

Do you have a modded Wii? Have you seen a cool mod to the Wii or the Wiimote? Let us know!

Great news to all you thrill and heat seekers alike (say whaat?), the official website for Codemasters' Heatseeker (PSP, Wii) is now up, running, alive, kicking, and (insert desired adjective here).

Yeah-huh! Catch more of the highly detailed screens captured via the game's Impact Cam in the screenshots section of the site. You can also get other downloadable goodies there and even more game details. You can also access the official forums for the game there - registration is required, of course.

So anyway, don't take our word for it. Just head on to the official Heatseeker game site by clicking on the "Read" link below and see all the action yourself.

Soon after the game's release to the Virtual Console yesterday, the folks over at Go Nintendo downloaded the title for the affluent cost of 1,000 Wii Points (we're paid in pain) and got together for a three-man session. They discovered something odd, however, when racing on the track Moo Moo Farm. The odd occurrence deals with the speed of the game, which they determine "is about double that of 150 cc."

Video is embedded past the post break.
