So, how 'bout that keynote at Leipzig? Wasn't it exciting to hear about the release date for the Wii, and the pricing, and the ponies ... no, no, that didn't happen at all. The hugely anticipated speech revealed none of the details rabid Nintendo fans have been dying to learn. Y'know, the tough questions, like "when's the console being released, and how much will it cost?"

We know. Sometimes it's hard to open up. There, there.

So now the hearts and minds of Nintendo fans turn toward September 14, when Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime will be on hand at a media event in New York. Forget celebration of video g

And the first new game to be marched onto the stage at the Leipzig Games Convention is Mario Strikers Charged, a Wii sequel to Mario's Gamecube exercise in frantic ball kicking. Eurogamer reports that the game is visually similar to the previous entry, but that it now sports special moves for the Wiimote. You can seemingly hold the Wii controller up to block incoming shots with your hands, though more enterprising players will surely have a lot more fun (and awkward injuries) strapping the wiimote to a foot and going ballistic.

To get you psyched for tomorrow's keynote speech from Nintendo, 1up has posted some early pictures and video footage from all over the show floor. Perhaps the venue isn't quite as grand as E3, but it doesn't seem as though any company is taking this event lightly. Remember, though, that no Wii games will be publicly playable...only behind closed doors to special invitees. Le sigh. Anyway, there are plenty of pretty shiny things after the jump, so enjoy the eye-candy.Rea

GameFront has a really lush set of scans on Trauma Center: Second Opinion that offer a look at the controls for the Wii. Now if only we could get someone to translate the text! Oh well, the pretty-pretty pictures are enough for a lazy Tuesday afternoon.

Look closely, too, for an inset that appears to compare the DS original with the expanded "Wiimake" that will launch with the new console.

Is it just us, or could this be one of the best games to introduce a world of irregular gamers to the Wii? Considering the popularity of medical-themed shows, we're thin

Terminal Reality (Bloodrayne II and Aeon Flux), Coresoft (Bass Pro Fishing and Deer Hunter), and Papaya Studio (Top Gear and Whirl Tour) are all listing job openings for programmers. According to these job listings, the studios are looking for programmers to take part in projects involving current and next-gen systems, including the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc. Now, none of these three studios have committed to information on any current projects (although it should be noted that Terminal Reality implied they are working on some next-gen project, which would make sense since Demonik fell through)

Saywha? The Wii -- yes, the Wii made by Nintendo, not to be referred to as the Nintendo Wii -- is going to retail for way less than $200 clams? Well, we wouldn't have given it a moment's thought if it wasn't a source so high and mighty in the industry as EA's EVP / COO of worldwide studios, David Gardner; then again, even here we've got a bit of rumor and speculation going down. Apparently Gardner said, "I've heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don't know if the price has been set in Europe yet." We know that

Nintendo appears to be reaching out to the emo youth demographic, as a new video contest has emerged on the mega-popular MySpace website. A large social networking tool for creepy internet stalkers students and adults alike, MySpace is visited by hundreds of thousands of people every day...a good place to advertise, yeah?

The contest, entitled "How Wii Play", is simple enough: create a video showing how you might use the Wiimote in your various everyday endeavors. The prize? Eight DS Lites for those hilarious enough to win the judges' hearts. You m

Some have said that using the Wiimote as if it were a sword, swinging it around to perform actions in-game, will undoubtedly cause us all to collapse from exhaustion. Some have noted that no actual force is required when using the Wiimote as if it were a sword or in any other kind of fashion, causing the previous point to be irrelevant. Well, now the argument may heat up yet again as Shigeru Miyamoto recently confirmed with Nintendo Dream magaz
