At least with the Wiinjuries popping up left and right, they're primarily self-inflicted wounds that don't involve the police, but it seems the Xbox 360 (and old Xbox, sometimes) and the PS3 are jacking up crime rates in cities everywhere. While we already knew hot game consoles brought out the absolute worst in people, we've got two more stories to persuade you to watch your back when snagging that last unit from the store's stockroom. After lucking up and grabbing herself an oh-so-coveted PlayStation 3 in a Florida retailer, Missy Robinson was followed to her home and held at gunpoint (along with her brother). Of course, she intelligently surrendered the console in exchange for safety, but she's not apt to go console hunting again anytime soon. On the Microsoft side, dedicated thieves "burrowed through the back wall of the video game store and stole 13 Xbox 360 game consoles." Notably, employees reported a scattered mess of PS3 boxes, but when the bandits real...

Gamers in Europe who have encountered problems with their Wii straps can now turn them in and have them replaced with thicker and sturdier wrist straps.
All you need in order to lessen the chances of getting your Wiimote stuck in a wall or someone's eye is give Nintendo a couple of personal details and your console serial number. In return, you get up to four new wrist straps and that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing that the chances of you hurting someone while playing Wii Sports have just been lessened.
Since some Wii consoles, particularly those that shipped in early December, already came with the new straps, you've got to check first if your Wii has the old or the new version. To see the difference between the two, check out the image below. When you determine that you have the old version, head right on over to the Replacement Request Form page at the Nintendo UK website.

Here's the story: A bunch of guys forgot to bring the Wii sensor bar, so they thought they can be smart about it and use some substitutes. Apparently their impromptu sensor bar (some candles) got a little too hot for their liking so they decided to extinguish the thing... big mistake.
Good thing there wasn't any permanent damage. Just a lot of laughs and a lot of finger pointing.

We have here for you a video of Crossbeam Studios Entertainment's eight-month old animation test for their Wii offering, Orb. Posted over at YouTube, we have phantomscreams to thank for it.
To those of you still unfamiliar with Orb, it is basically and action adventure game where you can explore a vast world, make discoveries, form alliances and discover secrets meant to be buried in the past. In this video, the character in focus is Simique. She's one of the three main characters. And although not much is still known about her, you can at least get an idea what she's supposed to do in the game through this vid.
Enjoy!

It has been quite a while since we heard something about Nibris and its highly anticipated projects for Nintendo. In case you guys have been detached from our little pixelated gaming universe, the said developer team is currently working hard to produce Raid Over the River for DS and Sadness for next-gen console Wii.
While this post is reeking with "Sadness", the DS title is not to be ignored. After all, it was just recently when Nibris game designer and art director Marek Okron mentioned that they have new ideas to introduce to the community, which would be told via a story mode strictly related to onscreen actions. Hmm...
On the other hand, Sadness feels exactly like that, a gothic horror game that is completely in black and white. Despite the promising features, news and information regarding the titles remain elusive. At any rate, this is what the Nibris representative had to say about the matter:
Hi! First of all,we are authorized Nintendo developer...

Given it's Christmas, we thought it was time to look back at the year and think things over. We say this as we remember all the violent-game-makes-violent-kids debates that have been springing up like fungus from the mouths of many a lawyer, a commentator and a news site, and see if it's really all that bad. Apparently, not quite.
Enter Gus Luna. Formerly an all-star soccer player, tae-kwon-do green belt, and the president of his 5th-grade class, Gus suddenly fell ill to brain cancer.
Now bedridden and home-schooled, Gus endures chemotherapy to cure the illness, along with exploratory brain surgery. Procedures that would normally be unbearable, if it weren't for his other constant companion (aside from his loving parents) - videogames.
"It would be really hard without this ... You never know what's going to happen next." as Gus commented on how the games helped him cope with the hospital's unfamiliar and oftentimes stressful atmosphere.
