You know, most of us here at Engadget couldn't help but get a bit misty eyed when we saw that new Wii Classic Controller and recalled our fond memories of many a' night spent with the SNES' Ol' Roundy. Of course, there's always that original rectangular classic NES controller that we saved the Princess with in "Super Mario Bros.", which will always have a fond place in our hearts. Whichever you prefer (or perhaps both), RetroUSB has just released SNES and NES controller adapters for the Nintendo Wii, letting your relive your mid-1980s and early 1990s memories of button-pushing in the 21st century; when you download the original Super Mario Bros. or the very first StarFox via Nintendo's Virtual Console service, you can now play them as they were meant to be played. These controller adapters will make the perfect addition for our F-Zero party this weekend -- Captain Falcon FTW!

If you're hesitant about adding yet another party game to your expanding library (dude, what do you have? Rabbids, Bananas, and Sports?), we've got vids from kyono007 that could possibly convince you to add one more to your collection. Despite party games crashing into the Wii from left, right, and center, WarioWare: Smooth Moves seems like a golden ticket to group entertainment.
With this video alone, we've got a couple of reasons why we think that this game is poking at that special part in our brains that's labelled "I'm a Nintendo geek." Here's just some reasons we've listed:

It looks like screwed up resolution support isn't the only kink Sony needs to iron out of its fancy new PS3 system. Reports are rampant of SIXAXIS controllers having quite a bit of trouble staying synced via Bluetooth. Pretty much the only way to rectify the problem is to plug the controller into the PS3 via USB and manually re-sync it, but that's little consolation when your controller locks up in the middle of a Resistance deathmatch or mid-drift in Ridge Racer 7. There are similar reports of a Wii-controller mishaps, but it seems the SIXAXIS has it particularly bad. No official response from Sony yet, but we'll be keeping an ear out.

Aside from Paris Hilton's recently released album, one of the most coveted items this holiday season is the Wii console. No doubt about that. But how sure are you with your chances of getting a console? If you're still worried about the hassle of lining up (and on top of that, competing with the rush of other Christmas shoppers), SwapGame is giving you an opportunity to earn yourself the jackpot console.
All you have to do is register yourself on their website and you have a one-in-fifty chance of winning the console. For every 50th registry until December 31st, that lucky new customer would get a free Wii. To make sure that your registry fits into the promo, you must make sure to notch ten games into your play list to qualify. That's not too taxing now, is it? If you're already a member, there's still chances of winning by joining exclusive member-only contests.
For those not familiar with the site, it's an online service that allows you to try games before even...

With your classic NES and SNES games on the Virtual Console, you (generally) have three options. You can plug in that silly classic controller, and have the Wiimote sit awkwardly on your lap. You can use a Gamecube controller, with its a-bit-too-complex-for-old-school button layout. Or, you can turn your Wiimote on its side for simplistic button configurations. None of these solutions are quite perfect, and fail to evoke that sense on controller nostalgia for which we so long.
Ready for ten tons of cool? Electronic badasses over at RetroZone have made two ever-so-simple adapters that allow you to plug in an NES or SNES controller directly into the Wii's Gamecube controller ports, for use with VC titles. That's right. Your original controllers of awesomeness will work as they once did. And only $19.99! What a bargain.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comment...

In checking in with some of those who waited in line overnight for the Wii, we might have just been shown the world's biggest fanboy. While it is obvious he has some sort of speech impediment (could be sleep deprivation, but we think it wouldn't cause someone to talk like that), it hasn't stopped the internet from making fun of him by putting his face on a T-shirt.

How does a classic compare to a classic? Interesting query, eh? We won't be giving you some philosophical take on that, but rather, we'll let you decide through these pictures we harvested from Engadget.
These are images of the Wii Classic controller being compared to its forebear, the classic SNES controller. Apparently, the Wii controller is thicker than the SNES controller, and sports a more pristine design, with its all-white theme. While the SNES controller's purple buttons scream retro, the translucent ones of the Wii reeks of modern design.
Of course, with today's games having more demands in terms of control, there's now more than just the basic d-pad, select start, X, Y, A, B buttons. On the Wii controller, there are those joysticks added in, as well as those shoulder pads. More buttons equal to better functionalities? You tell us.
At the end of the day, it's not really about making comparisons to determine which is better. But actually, it's ...

Has Panasonic become the upscale SolidAlliance of Japanese electronics? Wait, hear us out. First they dropped the EY3002 computerized mattress onto our sallow souls, now this, the exer-bronco. Although classified as fitness, not fetish gear, the mechanicals do list stirrups and handles as optional equipment. And get this, you can even kit the rig out with an oxygen tank just in case you get a little breathless from "working out." Er, isn't that the point? Prices for that hot, buckin' action exceed ¥300,000 (more than $2500) which might be worth if only for a bit of Wii integration. Help us Bud and Sissy, you're their only hope.
