While everyone is asking how the Wii remote will help Sam Fisher maintain his stealthy craft, the Wii version for Splinter Cell: Double Agent is still worth a second glance. The video below gives us a hands-on with the controls and gameplay, with the player going through the training levels.

Notice how there's that white triangle hovering around the screen. While the Nunchuck is used to maneuver Fisher around the levels, this white triangle indicates where your Wiimote is pointing. This also makes you aim your firearms better. From what we could see, aiming in this FPS mode is made easier by just guiding the Wiimote triangle to the center of the cross-hairs.

You may watch the rest of the video to see how to climb, select from your inventory, and other general stealth tips. We know how some of you have already gotten used to the controls of the previous Splinter Cell games, and since the Wiimote brings in a new dimension of the games, it won't be uncommon to feel a bit...

News has just reached our ears that there are now free Wii buyer's guides up for grabs in Wal-mart stores, and one generous soul over at the Biffsputnik site confirmed this, saying that he was able to get one at his local Wal-mart. So, what makes him generous? Well, he scanned all the pages of the guide (we mean ALL) to share with us the contents.

Now, on to the more pressing question: what's inside the buyers guide? Basically the guide consists of more than 30 pages of Wii 101, profiles on some Wii games (including NFS Carbon, Madden, Trauma Center, Zelda, etc.), as well as an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime.

The Wii buyer's guide not only talks the Wii-speak, but also lists the must-have games for the other Nintendo consoles: DS, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance, making this buyer's guide a definite Nintendo-lover must-have. Check your local Wal-marts for availability and drool all you want right in the comfort of your own homes.

No matter how much one will argue based on previous statements by Nintendo, the Wii is in-fact a Nintendo Gamecube redesigned! I've been told this several times by a friend of mine who just detests this poor little console, but I'm still a firm believer in the new design and controller. I'm in it for the gameplay, not the graphics (like many of the Wii enthusiasts are).

Well, it seems that the "Wii's brains" have finally been uncovered from an IBM datasheet which discussed, in essence, displayed that the Wii's broadway CPU is only a redesign of the Gamecube's Gekko CPU in a smaller package and faster performance. In the past there were several rumors that the Wii would be able to compete with Sony and Microsoft's next generation consoles in terms of graphics, but with the recent screenshots (I'm looking at you Farcry!), it is anything but that. Here's what Ars Tech had to say on the situation -

A poster at the Ace's Hardware message board has dug...

They've got the hardcourt covered as well as the ice, and now Take-Two is getting suited up to take their turn at the baseball diamond. Take-Two Interactive's publishing label 2K Sports announced today a new sports title that's going to blow gamers away with some over-the-top baseball action.

Blending outrageous visuals with intuitive gameplay mechanics, 2K Sports has no doubt that this new title will treat fans to a whole new Major League Baseball experience. It's over-the-top, it's explosive, and it's called The BIGS.

"The BIGS is sure to turn a few heads as it pioneers a completely different way of playing an MLB video game," stated Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, at 2K Sports studio. "2K Sports is always looking to deliver the most innovative and eye-catching sports video games to fans and The BIGS is one of 2K Sports' most dynamic titles to date."

The above pumpkin, carved by reader graham, hits us in our various weak spots for the most massive damage imaginable. It fills us with the Halloween spirit (if there is even such a thing and if there is, patent pending) and makes us anxious to go out into the living room and give out candy to trick-or-treaters.

What about you guys? Still at that age where you can make off like a bandit in the night, pillow case full of chocolate goods? Or are you too old to pass for young and, like us, must instead sit in your living room, bowl of candy in-hand?Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Fans of the whole Dynasty Warriors-type action genre will have to wait a little while longer to get their action fix for the Wii. Koei's Sengoku Musou Wave (Samurai Warriors Wave), which was supposed to be released in Japan on December 28, has taken a hard hit. The Dynasty Warriors offshoot title's release date has been pushed back to sometime in 2007.

Right now, we don't have any further information regarding the delay, but it is likely that graphics and gameplay improvements played a large part in the decision to push the title's release date back.

It's been mentioned that Sengoku Musou Wave features a first-person perspective designed to take full advantage of the Wii remote. While the gameplay video evoked a few negative opinions about the game, we're hoping that this delay will result in better-looking graphics and more intuitive controls.

Remember the Nintendo fanatic we showed you not too long ago. The "ultimate" Mario fanboy? Looks like he may have a little competition. The newest contender in the Nintendo rap battle has a video titled "Teno Luv." Maybe "Nintendo Love" took too long to type?
It is always nice to see fanboys and girls pouring out their hearts in honor of our favorite gaming company but sometimes you can go too far. So let us know! Who went farther? Does our original freestyle guru keep the crown or will this new guy take his place?
See the video after the break!

It's the doughnut, ready and willing to cradle your Wiimote while you take those hairpin turns. If you're not picking up GT Pro Series or Monster 4x4 (both of which come packaged with the wheel), then you can snag one of these for a pretty reasonable $19.99. While it may look funny (and so will you when using it), the steering wheel has actually gotten some pretty good reviews, the most recent from Chris Kohler of GameLife.

Check after the jump for the back of the box.

We all felt a sense of shock when we had the Wii on EDGE article a few days ago. Some of the rumored details made our heads nodding in agreement even without us knowing it. While on the other hand, a couple of them made us go "What the...," whether in astonishment or disappointment. Clearly still in our heads, the rumor again caught our eyes today when we saw it over at GameIndustry.

More than a rumor, the gaming business site claimed a Nintendo spokesperson talked to them today to clear up the issue. In a very direct statement, the Nintendo guy said: "There are currently plans to release a version of Wii in Japan featuring DVD playback."

We're giving you now a five-second delay, take it all in first. If that turns out to be true, it looks like Nintendo decided it would be all for the better if they upgrade their system's specs. The spokesperson then added, all in one breath, the new version of the Wii will be available in Japan and that "there are currently no plans ...
